As part of an EFRE/Rhineland-Palatinate–funded innovation project (INNOTOP), camera tomography was further developed as a contactless, non-destructive testing technology for adhesive applications – including data evaluation and industrial integration.
The goal was to enable quality assurance not only in the laboratory, but within a production-like process.

Industrial validation
The system’s operational readiness was confirmed through final, fully integrated industrial testing. Within a dedicated inspection cell, the quality assurance of acrylic foam adhesive tapes applied to automotive spoilers was carried out reliably and repeatably.
Crucial for production:The system delivers the required measurement data within the specified cycle time (< 5 seconds per component), enabling early defect detection and immediate cost reduction through reduced scrap and rework.
What this means for manufacturing companies
Non-destructive testing enables adhesive processes to be safeguarded in a “first-time-right” approach – directly at the point where defects occur.
reduced scrap and rework
increased process reliability
objective, digital quality data for every component
scalable for different components and production line concepts
Independent performance validation
In addition to industrial integration, the validation depth was significantly extended. In cooperation with an adhesive tape manufacturer, results were obtained that independently confirm the performance of TENTA’s camera tomography for adhesive tapes – including comparisons with established testing methods (e.g. standardized peel tests).
