Application: Optical Leak Inspection

For the first time, TENTA's inspection technology also measures leakage - optically.

The method is available via a software extension.


The test setup is very simple: The sensor scans the test objects, which are loaded for 2 to 3 seconds with the smallest pressure difference. Many test parts can be evaluated at the same time. The principle also works regardless of the material: In addition to soft packaging bags, very rigid structures such as thick-walled metal housings can also be assessed in this way. TENTA offers advanced equipment to easily integrate the inspection into existing production lines.



In this example, 8 plastic bottles are analysed in just 2 seconds. The test pressure is -30 mbar. The bottles are positioned in a chamber. The pressure difference causes the bottle caps to deform by up to 6 micrometres. The unique TENTA sensor technology detects this with nanometre sensitivity.

Dynamic deformation over time

Based on the dynamic deformation response, the software instantly calculates the leakage values qL. Leak detection is also supported, especially for larger sealing areas.
